Disability Network seeks transportation solutions to benefit individuals with disabilities and the wider community.

Our services:
• Sharing information on rights and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
• Supporting individuals, businesses, and organizations in finding and implementing reasonable
accommodations
• Providing details on transportation options in Ottawa and Allegan Counties
• Developing and facilitating community workgroups to create transportation solutions

Current community projects include:

Eastern Ottawa Community Change Study:
• September 2008 through January 2010
• The goal of this study is to understand the impact lack of public transportation has on Eastern Ottawa County and how to effectively communicate that impact to elected officials and local stakeholders
• Study area includes the City of Hudsonville, Allendale Township, Jamestown Township, Blendon Township, Georgetown/Jenison Township
• Funded by the Michigan Department of Transportation - Service, Development, and New Technology (SDNT) Grant

Allegan County Community Change Study:
• September 2008 through August 2010
• First goal of this study is to develop a community supported five-year strategic plan for Allegan County Transportation
• Second goal of this study is to implement a marketing educational plan to increase support of and awareness for a public transportation
• Funded by the Michigan Department of Transportation - Service, Development, and New Technology (SDNT) Grant

West Michigan Regional Transit Linkage Study:
• October 2008 through October 2009
• The goal of this study is to complete a needs assessment and feasibility study of commuter transit services in the West Michigan area
• Funded by the Michigan Department of Transportation - Service, Development, and New Technology (SDNT) Grant

• This study is being conducted by the Ottawa County Planning and Grants Department in collaboration with Grand Valley State University. Disability Network/Lakeshore is a committee member on this study.
• Regional Transit in West Michigan? A study is underway to examine the demand for new commuter and intercity bus services connecting communities in Ottawa, Kent and Muskegon Counties. You can help by taking a brief survey on-line at www.westmichigantransitsurvey.info and be entered in a drawing to receive one of several $25 gift cards.
