VOLUNTEER

We rely on our wonderful volunteers for so much of what we accomplish. Every gift of time and resources makes a difference.

To discuss a volunteer opportunity that fits your skills, interests, and schedule, please contact Annie Hilchen by email: annie@dnlakeshore.org, or call 616.396.5326 x112.

Volunteer Opportunities:

ACCESSIBILITY VOLUNTEERS

Skills & Tasks
Access Volunteers help survey businesses and public spaces for accessibility. Volunteers assist businesses to recognize existing barriers and promote compliance with low cost solutions.

Training
Hands on training is provided. Access volunteers are trained to offer services in a non-threatening manner, and learn the federal and state guidelines for accessibility. Volunteers will also learn to use the barrier removal checklist.

Service Time Commitment: An on call basis for big projects with a two week notice minimum.

Contact Information & Supervision
Access Volunteers will work on various projects, and will be supervised by Lucia Rios, Accessibility Specialist. Please email lucia@dnlakeshore.org, or call 616.396.5326 x104.

Office Volunteers

Skills & Tasks
Disability Network/Lakeshore is seeking volunteers to help with general office and clerical tasks. Volunteers will support an organization serving people with disabilities, businesses, and the community by assisting with filing, data entry, mailings, phone calls, and other tasks as needed. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with a variety of programs and projects.

Training
Hands on training is provided for our phone system, office equipment, and any programs used to complete special projects. In addition, we offer additional training opportunities in Microsoft Office applications to help build your resume.

Service Time Commitment:
A minimum of four hours per week of service is required. Service time may be scheduled during our regular office hours (Monday through Friday, between 8:00am and 4:30pm).

Contact Information & Supervision
Office Volunteers will work for the entire staff on various projects, and will be supervised by Annie, Office & Technology Manager. Please email annie@dnlakeshore.org, or call 616.396.5326 x112.
